Overview
Stacie L. Provencher is an attorney in the firm's Family Law and Appellate practices, known for her compassionate, client-centered approach to a full range of family law matters. Her primary areas of focus include contested divorce and custody disputes, post-judgment modifications of alimony and child support, custody and parenting time modifications, relocation cases, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, contempt motions, restraining orders, family law appeals, and de facto parentage petitions. Stacie recognizes that no two families—or cases—are alike, and understands that family cases are deeply personal and can have a profound impact on her clients’ lives. She works collaboratively with clients to achieve resolutions that protect their interests and, where children are involved, prioritize their well-being. Stacie believes that every client deserves to feel heard, respected, and fully informed throughout the legal process. She takes the time to understand each client’s unique goals and circumstances, developing a tailored strategy for every case. She explains complex legal issues in plain language and ensures clients understand their options at every stage.
When litigation is necessary, Stacie advocates zealously on her clients' behalf. She relentlessly pursues favorable outcomes in family law litigation and negotiations, including complex asset division, child support and alimony determinations and modifications, enforcement of court orders, and the development of comprehensive parenting plans that prioritize the best interests of children. Whether navigating out-of-court settlement negotiations or representing clients at trial, Stacie provides steady guidance and advocacy at every step
In her appellate practice, Stacie takes the lead in conducting comprehensive research and drafting persuasive briefs, including developing appellate strategy and identifying potential issues for appeal. She has argued before the Connecticut Supreme Court and Connecticut Appellate Court. Her family law background makes her particularly effective in crafting compelling legal arguments in family appeals.
Stacie has been named as a Connecticut Super Lawyers Rising Star since 2023 in the area of family law, and she has been included on the Best Lawyers in America "Ones to Watch" list since 2024.
Prior to becoming an associate, Stacie honed her skills as a paralegal in Pullman’s Family Law Practice for several years. This invaluable hands-on experience gave her a tactical understanding of how family law cases unfold from start to finish, and a deep understanding of client needs and effective case management. Her background as both a paralegal and an attorney provides a unique perspective on all aspects of family law representation.
Stacie is also collaboratively trained, allowing her to guide clients through the collaborative divorce process as an alternative to traditional litigation. Additionally, she is a certified Guardian ad litem, a role in which she advocates for the welfare and best interests of children involved in family court proceedings.
In law school, Stacie authored States Should Create A Heightened Standard of Review for Contracts That Determine the Disposition of Frozen Embryos in Contested Divorce Cases, which addressed the various legal standards nationwide for disputed frozen embryos in the context of divorced couples, for Western New England Law Review, where she served as Senior Articles Editor.
