Jonathan Orleans Offers Advice to Employers as Connecticut Returns to Work

Jonathan Orleans, chair of Pullman & Comley's Labor and Employment section, was interviewed by Kevin Zimmerman for a recent article in the Fairfield County Business Journal on how businesses can properly, legally, and safely get back to work as Connecticut begins the process of reopening the economy. With Phase 2 of resumption scheduled for June 20, there are still many gray areas and significant questions for employers. Given the volume of guidance from the state of Connecticut, the CDC, and OSHA, it can all be fairly burdensome for employers to sift through. 

“The fundamental advice is to do whatever you can, and whatever the government advises, to protect the health of your employees and customers,"  Jon says.  He also addresses some of the questions he gets most from employer clients, such as what to do with an employee who refuses to return to work, and a business owner's liability if an employee becomes infected.
