Joshua S. Smith is an associate in the firm's Business Organizations and Finance practice. He has a diverse background working with businesses and public agencies across several areas of the law, including contract drafting and negotiation, environmental law, real estate, civil litigation, employment law and land use and planning. His transactional work includes researching, drafting and reviewing sale agreements, license agreements and employment contracts. In the environmental law arena, Joshua has advised and counseled clients on various federal, state and local permitting requirements concerning air and water quality regulations.
Joshua also has considerable experience in the area of municipal law and has assisted in the representation of local public agencies as general counsel. His work includes drafting, advising and responding to state association requests; developing interagency policies; research, analysis and implementation of new state and federal policy, including COVID executive orders; and assisting public agency staff in enforcement of ordinances and policies.
