Kelly Scott Recognized as ALM's Partner of the Year
Pullman & Comley Family Law practice Chair Kelly A. Scott was recognized as Partner of the Year at ALM’s 2026 New England Legal Awards ceremony held on October 8 at The Westin Copley Place in Boston.
The annual awards recognize exceptional achievement across the legal profession in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, honoring attorneys, law firms, and practice groups that have demonstrated excellence in service, leadership, and results. The Partner of the Year award recognizes an attorney who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, professional accomplishments, and significant contributions to their law firm's success. Through her dedication to client service, commitment to the growth of the Family Law practice, and mentorship of colleagues, Kelly has made a lasting impact on both Pullman & Comley and the clients she serves.
In a Q&A with ALM, Kelly reflected on her five years as co-chair of Pullman & Comley’s Recruiting Committee, during which she helped bring more than 15 attorneys and law students into the practice of law, and her new role as practice leader. “Transitioning out of this role is bittersweet; it gave me an invaluable opportunity to contribute meaningfully beyond my day-to-day practice as a family law attorney. Yet this ending also marks an exciting new beginning: I am now assuming leadership as chair of our Family Law Group. I intend to bring the same passion and commitment to this new role.”
When asked what makes an effective partner, Kelly emphasized the importance of communication, accountability and collaboration. “A good and effective partner communicates openly, honestly, and gracefully, fostering trust and transparency in every interaction. They prioritize the collective good while recognizing that a thriving firm is built on the success and well-being of each individual within it.”
Kelly also offered advice for associates aspiring to partnership, encouraging them to focus on long-term professional development and persistence. “Building a successful legal practice is an incremental process that requires patience and persistence. Progress may not always be linear.” She stressed the importance of cultivating meaningful relationships, producing high-quality work and maintaining professional integrity throughout the journey to partnership.
