Newtown resident and Pullman & Comley litigation attorney James (Tim) Shearin was ranked the No. 1 overall attorney in Connecticut on the recently published 2022 Connecticut Super Lawyers “Top 10” list.

Super Lawyers, published by Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. Shearin has been named to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list in the areas of business litigation, antitrust litigation and securities litigation each year since 2006.

He has wide-ranging experience in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels, and before arbitration and mediation panels.

In addition to his Super Lawyers recognition, Shearin has been recognized this year by other leading ranking services that acknowledge top attorneys within their field of practice. The 2022 edition of Chambers USA — a leading business guide to the legal profession recognized worldwide for its detailed research and review process — listed Shearin in the highest band, Band 1, for Connecticut lawyers ranked in the area of litigation: general commercial. This is the 19th year Shearin has been ranked by Chambers.

He was named to The Best Lawyers in America 2023 in six practice areas — bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, litigation - antitrust, litigation - banking and finance, litigation - intellectual property, and litigation - securities. Benchmark Litigation, a leading guide to the world’s leading litigation firms and lawyers, awarded Shearin with a star honor in their 2023 guide.

Throughout the years, Shearin has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the legal industry. He was honored with the Career Service Award by the Connecticut Bar Association in 2018, inducted as a Fellow into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers in 2016 and the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2014. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Connecticut Law Tribune in 2015.

Shearin serves as chair of the ACTL Connecticut State Committee. He has held numerous leadership roles within the Connecticut Bar Association and currently serves as its vice president and co-chairman of the Professionalism Committee.
