The Pullman & Comley Labor & Employment Working Together Webinar Series is a six part program covering a variety of topics relating to labor and employment in the current climate.

In Part II of the webinar series on Wednesday, January 13, 2020, attorneys Jonathan B. Orleans and Andrés Jiménez-Franck discussed unemployment tips and trends including:

  • Unemployment benefits
  • The Shared Work program – what it is/ how it works
  • What to consider when contemplating layoffs and furloughs.

Robert C. Hinton and Melinda B. Kaufmann then discussed how to create and maintain a diverse, inclusive, and safe workplace, covering:

  • Why diversity and inclusion in the workplace is important
  • How to establish a meaningful diversity and inclusion program
  • Where employers go wrong with diversity and inclusion
  • How to reduce sexual and other harassment in the workplace
  • How to address harassment if it occurs
  • How to ensure compliance with Connecticut’s Time’s Up Act

Lastly, Mark J. Sommaruga provided an update on EEOC Guidance regarding mandatory vaccinations and answer important questions including:

  • Can an employer mandate that its employees receive the COVID-19 vaccine?
  • What accommodations must an employer make in the workplace for those who cannot be vaccinated?
  • When can an employer exclude someone from the workplace who cannot be vaccinated?
  • What other issues must employers consider with respect to a vaccination requirement?
