This article provides an overview of summary dissolution of marriage, discussing the different types of summary dissolution statutes, the process by which a summary dissolution is obtained, and the different criteria that are found in the various summary dissolution statutes. This article also discusses the experiences that states have had with summary dissolution and makes recommendations for its use in all states.
