Pullman & Comley Counsel Dana Hrelic Named 40 Under Forty Honoree by Hartford Business Journal

HARTFORD, CT, September 2, 2022: Pullman & Comley, LLC counsel Dana M. Hrelic has been named a 40 Under Forty honoree by Hartford Business Journal. Dana joined Pullman & Comley’s Litigation, Appellate and Professional Liability practices in December 2021 after earning a reputation as an accomplished attorney in appellate and commercial litigation.

Dana, a West Hartford resident who is based in Pullman & Comley’s Hartford office, focuses her practice on commercial litigation and state, territorial and federal appeals. She is lead author of the firm’s newest newsletter, “Asked and Answered: Tips from Pullman’s Appellate Team.”

The American Bar Association appointed Dana in August 2021 to serve a three-year term on its Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary representing the First Circuit federal courts (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island). Throughout her term, it is estimated that she will contribute hundreds of hours on a volunteer basis to provide this vital public service. Dana also serves as a member of the ABA House of Delegates.

Dana served as chair of the ABA Young Lawyers Division in 2017-2018, overseeing about 200,000 young lawyers nationwide and became the first female ABA Young Lawyers chair to have children while serving as chair. She also serves as a member of the Connecticut Bar Association House of Delegates and is a past co-chair of the CBA COVID-19 Task Force.

“It’s no secret in the legal community that Dana has a stellar reputation,” says James (Tim) Shearin, chairman of Pullman & Comley. “To see her get this recognition from the business community is wonderful and well deserved.”

When asked by HBJ to name her biggest professional accomplishments to date, Dana cited winning a blanket reversal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit after a long oral argument in a complicated government immunity case. In addition, she cited playing a large part in the adoption of policy by the ABA that advocates for the provision of clean, safe and private lactation rooms for breastfeeding mothers in courthouses.

Dana received her B.A., with distinction, from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D. from University of Connecticut Law School.
