Pullman & Comley Attorneys Honored at the Connecticut Law Tribune's Professional Excellence Awards Ceremony

HARTFORD, Conn.,: Hundreds of people gathered at the Bond Ballroom in Hartford on October 3 for the Connecticut Law Tribune’s Annual Professional Excellence Awards ceremony where Pullman & Comley attorneys Morris W. Banks, Michael A. Ceccorulli and the firm’s Family Law Practice were honored. 

Morris Banks was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to an attorney for leaving a lasting imprint on the Connecticut Legal Community. Mr. Banks practices in the areas of corporate law, corporate securities, taxation, mergers and acquisitions and succession planning for closely held businesses.  For more than 50 years he has counseled clients and been at the forefront of mergers and acquisitions activities, raising money through venture capital financings and providing tax advice to his clients.  Mr. Banks lectured on the topic of business planning at the University of Connecticut School of Law from 1981-2016 and had served as chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Tax Section. 

Mr. Banks is heavily invested in his community and combines his love of opera, music and the arts to his community service. He has served as the President of the Greater Hartford Arts Council and continues to serve on its Board of Directors, serves on the Community Engagement Committee for the Hartford Symphony, and serves on the Charter Oak Community Center’s Campaign Cabinet. He received his A.B. degree from Dartmouth College, his LL.B. from Columbia University, and earned an LL.M. in taxation from the New York University Graduate School of Law.  He has been selected as a Connecticut Super Lawyer since 2011 in the area of mergers and acquisitions, and has received the highest peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell, AV Preeminent. 

Michael A. Ceccorulli, an associate in the firm’s real estate, land use and commercial finance practice groups, was a recipient of the “New Leaders in the Law” award, which spotlights lawyers under the age of 40 who have excelled in the courtroom, in client service and service to the bar associations, and in pro bono work or community service in a volunteer capacity. Mr. Ceccorulli has been instrumental to the firm in the successful completion of complex real estate and land use projects.  He serves on the Executive Committee, Real Property Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and also on the Environmental Law Section.  He is actively involved in the Connecticut Italian-American Bar Association, serving on the board of directors and as co-chair of the Membership Committee, and was selected for the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Leadership Program.  

In the community, Mr. Ceccorulli shares a passion for assisting others and has been an active volunteer of the Connecticut Veteran’s Legal Counsel where he assists veterans with a variety of legal issues. Mr. Ceccorulli earned his B.A. from the University of Connecticut and his J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law. 

Pullman & Comley’s Family Law Practice was also honored with the “Litigation Department of the Year” award. Throughout 2016, the practice routinely provided litigation, mediation and arbitration services in some of the most complex financial and child custody related dissolutions of marriage actions in the state.  Additionally, the practice was responsible for the most significant cases shaping the family law landscape last year, and its attorneys have been responsible for several of the most influential family law decisions in the last decade.  In addition to these seminal cases, the lawyers in the group have represented hundreds of clients successfully in virtually every family court in the state, including two significant victories in the State Supreme Court in 2016.
