Gary O'Connor quoted in the Connecticut Post on the Future of Malls

Connecticut Post

An analysis by Gary B. O'Connor, co-chair of Pullman & Comley's Real Estate practice, was quoted in a Connecticut Post article on the repurposing of struggling malls in the state. Gary discussed alternative uses mall owners have begun to embrace as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to accelerate shifts in consumer preference around retail shopping.

Connecticut's malls "present unique opportunities for repurposing and adaptive reuse efforts, which will be imperative for their long-term viability and survival going forward," he says. These strategic adjustments are well underway in the state, as Gary notes, "several of Connecticut's mall owners have already begun transforming their 'retail-only' shopping centers into a mix of development that focuses on customer convenience and experiences."
