Pullman & Comley School Law Attorneys Will Present at the 2021 CABE/CAPSS Convention

Pullman & Comley School Law attorneys Melinda B. Kaufmann, Zachary D. Schurin and Mark J. Sommaruga will be presenting at this year's CABE/CAPPS Convention which will emphasize the future: civility, diversity and student voice.

Melinda will be presenting "Leveling the Playing Field: Title IX and the Law of Transgender Students" from 1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. and will address the school district’s obligation to accommodate transgender students, both during the school day and in athletics. 

Mark's workshop titled "Understanding Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act (Especially in a Remote and Hybrid Meeting World)" will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and will provide further and updated guidance to Board of Education members and school administrators seeking to navigate the FOIA. Special attention will be paid to the modified "remote" and "hybrid" meetings requirements. 

Zach's workshop titled ""To Post of Not to Post..." Understanding the Legal Pitfalls of Social Media Use by Board Members and Administrators" will take place from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and will explore the unique legal issues that apply to the social media activities and accounts of board members and administrators. This session will give attendees a guided tour of the latest legal developments in this rapidly evolving area.
