New Guidance on Overtime Exemptions in Higher Education

Jon Orleans, chair of Pullman & Comley’s Labor & Employment Law practice and co-chair of the firm’s Colleges and Universities practice, presented New Guidance on Overtime Exemptions in Higher Education at the 2018 CCIC Annual Member Forum.

The U.S. Department of Labor has issued new guidance on the applicability of the “white collar” overtime exemptions to faculty, coaches and the student employees of colleges and universities. Jon reviewed the law in this area and discussed the changing approach of the DOL.
