A Roundtable for Charter Schools: Returning to School in the Fall (?)

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Zoom Webinar
Pullman & Comley’s School Law team recently held a webinar to address Connecticut’s State Department of Education’s “Adapt, Advance, Achieve” guidance on the reopening of schools in the fall and the many legal (and practical) implications for schools. We explored the ability to reconcile the provision of robust in-person learning with the need to comply with health and safety guidelines (including social distancing, PPE protocols, “clean” buildings, and effectively addressing COVID-19 cases in the schools), all taking place in the context of a maze of legal edicts and scarce resources.

While schools were expected to submit their “plans” on reopening by July 24, many issues still remain. As such, we have decided to have a follow up conversation with Connecticut charter school leaders, who have unique challenges with respect to (safely) reopening school this fall. On Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM, attorneys Melinda Kaufmann, Mark Sommaruga and Zachary Schurin from Pullman & Comley’s School Law practice will lead an interactive discussion with charter school leaders via Zoom, so that the schools can share their challenges and we all can find practical solutions together.

Registration for the webinar is free, but it is required to access the event. Please register here.

There will be time for Q&A at the end of the webinar. Questions should be sent in advance to kcavanagh@pullcom.com.
