As a follow-up to our post earlier this week, President Trump has signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (CAA). The law extends key COVID-19 era Medicare telehealth flexibilities through December 31, 2027, including:
- Waiver of geographic site limitations;
- Permitting audio-only technology for a broad set of health care services;
- Suspension of initial and annual in-person visit requirements for behavioral/mental health telehealth services; and
- Expansion of the list of providers who may offer services by telehealth.
The enactment of the CAA is welcome news to both Medicare providers and patients, who can take advantage of the relaxed rules through the end of next year.
If you have any questions on how the enactment of the CAA may affect your practice, please contact a Pullman & Comley Health Care attorney.
