HARTFORD, Conn., October 23, 2019: Sandra D. Dawson, a member of the law firm Pullman & Comley LLC, was honored by Banking New England magazine and named a  2019 Woman of FIRE.  Sandy is one of 31 women from across New England selected for the annual award which “celebrates the most talented, the most ambitious, the most innovative and the most philanthropic women” in the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate (FIRE) industries.

Sandy joined Pullman & Comley’s Government Finance practice in early 2019. She integrates bond law, tax law, and securities law, representing municipalities, state agencies, special taxing and special service districts, underwriters, banks, trustees, and liquidity and credit enhancement providers. Sandra excels at structuring and closing complicated financing deals both on behalf of municipal bond issuers and on behalf of banks and trustees who participate in municipal financing transactions. Sandy’s work has had a significant positive impact on numerous municipalities across Connecticut and to the state as a whole through her involvement in the transportation infrastructure financing program. She also practices in the area of corporate trust, representing trustees and collateral, escrow and custody agents.

“With such deep knowledge across multiple practice areas, Sandy is a unique asset to our firm, and to the banking and finance industry in New England,” says John F. Stafstrom, chair of Pullman’s Government Finance practice.

Sandy is an active participant in the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Government Finance Officers Association and was recently elected by her peers as a Fellow of the American College of Bond Counsel. Prior to her legal career, Sandy worked for 18 years in the forest products industry in manufacturing and engineering. Sandy is recognized for her commitment to community service and civic well-being, serving as a volunteer in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and as a mentor in the New England Women in Public Finance nonprofit organization. Her work with the Connecticut Leukemia and Lymphoma Society earned her recognition as the 2012 Woman of the Year.

The Women of FIRE Awards were held on October 11, 2019, at The Verve Crowne Plaza in Natick, MA. In his September/October, 2019 “Letter from the Publisher”, Vincent M.
