PRESS RELEASE: People's United Bank and Pullman & Comley, LLC Host Greater Bridgeport Business Community "Celebrating Diversity" Reception

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.:  On October 28, People’s United Bank and the law firm Pullman & Comley, LLC hosted a reception celebrating diversity in the Greater Bridgeport business community.

Now in its second year, the event, which took place at People’s United corporate headquarters, 850 Main Street, highlighted the work of local women- and minority-owned businesses and attracted more than 200 area business owners, community leaders, and non-profit representatives.

“The reception brings area businesses together to exchange ideas and develop local relationships that benefit the entire Greater Bridgeport community,” said Armando Goncalves, Senior Vice President and Southern Connecticut Market President, People’s United Bank.  “People’s United is very proud to work with Pullman & Comley to provide this opportunity and to support wonderful programs like FSW’s Workshop in Business Opportunities which has done so much to assist aspiring entrepreneurs.”

Addressing the event’s attendees, Pullman & Comley’s Chairman, James (Tim) Shearin said, “The Greater Bridgeport business community today is more vibrant than ever.  The city’s revitalization has been strengthened by all of you, who bring a diversity of ideas, cultures and innovative products to the marketplace, and who commit day in and day out to rebuilding our city.”

Five local businesses – Amodex Products, Inc., Blood Root, PC Net, Penmar Industries and Sandie’s Sweet Success − showcased their products and services at the event.  The Bridgeport Regional Business Council, the City of Bridgeport’s Small & Minority Business Resource Office, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bridgeport and the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council acted as supporting partners.

During the reception, Goncalves and Shearin jointly presented a check to FSW, Inc., which was accepted by Dr. William Haas, FSW’s president and CEO.  FSW is a nonprofit organization that works with thousands of individuals, youth and families in the Greater Bridgeport and southern Fairfield County each year to help them build brighter futures through an individualized plan of support to strengthen personal capabilities.
