Megan Carannante Recognized as a Finalist for ALM's Best Mentors
Pullman & Comley Labor and Employment co-chair Megan Y. Carannante has been selected as a finalist for ALM’s 2025 Best Mentors Award, an honor that recognizes a legal professional who has demonstrated exceptional guidance, support, and leadership in nurturing the next generation of attorneys across any practice area or sector.
In a Q&A with ALM, Megan shared insights into the personal motivations and professional experiences that have shaped her approach to mentorship. “To be successful, a lawyer needs to understand their clients’ priorities, values and needs so that they may understand what is important to the client and work together with the client to maximize opportunities and minimize risk. A successful lawyer also needs to have a diligent work ethic and a creative, pragmatic, flexible approach toward problem solving. Communication at all levels is paramount, whether it be with clients, adversaries, team members or decision makers as it builds trust and helps you achieve mutually agreeable goals.”
On growing from being a great attorney to helping others succeed, Megan explained, it’s about "listening to and reflecting on what others need to reach their full potential and then empowering them to take ownership over projects which will encourage them to grow and learn. By encouraging them to ask questions and challenge themselves beyond their comfort zone while providing support and guidance and serving as a resource and ally while they do so.” She added that the mentorship most in demand today provides exposure to interesting work and experiences, whether client-facing, internal, or court-facing, along with guidance and support in navigating their careers and maintaining work-life balance.
The New England Legal Awards celebrate professional excellence within the legal community across Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, honoring outstanding contributions and achievements of legal professionals within the region. The 2025 ceremony will take place on October 23.
