Attorneys Lauren Davies and Sebastian D'Acunto to Discuss Grantor Trusts and Tax Benefits in Estate Planning

Pullman & Comley Trusts and Estates Attorneys Lauren Davies and Sebastian D'Acunto will be speakers at the 2025 Federal Tax Institute of New England, organized by the Estates and Probate Section and Tax Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Their program, entitled "Structuring Sales of Privately Held Businesses to Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts" will include a discussion of grantor trusts and their tax benefits in estate planning: utilizing sales transactions with promissory notes as a tax effective business succession technique. 

The presentation will cover how to remove the appreciation in business assets and/or commercial real estate portfolio from a client’s taxable estate without allocating a large portion of the client’s unified gift tax and/or estate tax exemption amount.
