Mark Sommaruga Quoted on Online Counseling Confidentiality Constraints

Mark J. Sommaruga, Pullman & Comley's School Law practice attorney, was quoted in a recent article on the importance of educators and administrators maintaining confidentiality during online counseling sessions. Students with autism, anxiety or other challenges may be receiving counseling via videoconferencing throughout the stay-at-home order, but there should be certain things to consider in order to enhance the learning experience, as well as avoid breaches of confidentiality.

Mark, who is also a member of the Labor, Employment Law and Employee Benefits practice, explains “if you’re not providing adequate educational opportunities through these groups, you could have a larger problem down the line. You want to minimize the need for compensatory education later on as best as you can now.”
