Opinion: Make absentee ballots, voting by mail options for all elections
Monte Frank, co-chair of the Litigation department, was a candidate for lieutenant governor in 2018 and chairs SAM-CT, an affiliate of SAM (Serve America Movement), an inclusive political party whose stated aim is to fix broken politics in the U.S.
In an opinion piece published in the Hartford Courant, he wrote that opposition to the use of mail in ballots is largely unfounded, and the increase of absentee ballots has allowed greater voter participation across the country. Monte suggests that Connecticut would benefit by providing absentee ballots without the need for an excuse, as well as opportunities for early voting, as a permanent option to the public.
