PRESS RELEASE: Michael E. Riley, Connecticut Superior Court Judge (Ret.) Joins Pullman & Comley, LLC

HARTFORD, Conn., May 10, 2017: Michael E. Riley, who retired from the Connecticut Superior Court last week after 13 years of service, has joined Pullman & Comley, LLC as a member, the law firm announced today.  He will be based in the firm’s Hartford office. 

Judge Riley is a former trial attorney with 28 years of experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of civil matters, including personal injury, professional malpractice, and insurance disputes.  As a member of the bench, he served as the Administrative Judge and as Presiding Judge for civil matters in the Judicial District of Windham and most recently as the mediation judge in the Hartford Judicial District Mediation Center.

Judge Riley serves as a mediator and arbitrator in state and federal court civil matters. At Pullman & Comley, he will join the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution practice, accompanying Retired Judges Robert L. Holzberg, Lynda B. Munro and Anne C. Dranginis.

Prior to being appointed to the Superior Court, Judge Riley was a partner at a Hartford law firm practicing primarily in civil litigation and appellate work.  Earlier in his career, he worked in-house at a large national insurance company for more than 20 years, most recently as managing attorney and claim counsel.

Judge Riley is a member of both the Hartford County Bar Association and the Tolland County Bar Association. He is involved in the Abraham Lincoln Association, the Exchange Club of Rockville and the Sons of Union Veterans.  Judge Riley has been board certified in Civil Litigation by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1990, and received the highest peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell (AV).  He received his B.A. from the University of Connecticut and his J.D. from Western New England College School of Law.
