PRESS RELEASE: Nancy A. D. Hancock is Named a "2016 Woman of Fire"

BRIDGEPORT, Conn., July 29, 2016:  Nancy A. D. Hancock, an Executive Committee member and partner in the Business and Finance practice at Pullman & Comley, LLC, has been named a 2016 Woman of FIRE by The Commercial Record.  Ms. Hancock is one of 12 women selected for the annual award which honors females in the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate (FIRE) industries.  The award “recognizes the most talented, ambitious, innovative and philanthropic women who are achieving excellence and making a difference in these traditionally male-dominated industries.”  

Ms. Hancock’s business law and corporate finance practice encompasses technology, tax, venture capital, securities and e-commerce.  She leverages her experience in commercial contracts and in providing apt and creative solutions for sophisticated business problems.  As a company counselor, she advises boards of directors and business managers on corporate governance, as well as drafting and negotiating intellectual property licenses, web hosting agreements, contact licensing, technology escrows and intellectual property-based financing documents.

Ms. Hancock is a leader within the firm and chairs several of the firm’s practice areas, including the Emerging Business and Venture Capital Practice, the Technology & Intellectual Property Section and the Securities and Antitrust Section.  In her daily interactions, she guides privately-held businesses through their critical generational control and tax planning processes.  She also negotiates business valuations with the Internal Revenue Service in the Tax Practice.  Ms. Hancock represents investment advisers, commodity pool operators, broker-dealers and other securities professionals and advises them on compliance with state and federal securities laws.  She is also active in the firm’s Commercial Finance Practice, representing borrowers and lenders alike. 

Ms. Hancock received her A.B., magna cum laude, from Princeton University and her J.D. from Cornell University.  She has been recognized by Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers to Businesses in the areas of corporate/mergers and acquisitions; is listed in the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of business organizations (including LLCs and partnerships); is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and was named one of Fairfield County’s ‘Top Lawyers” by Moffly Media publications. 

In addition to her memberships in the Connecticut Bar Association, the American Bar Association, The New York State Bar Association and the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, Ms. Hancock is a James W. Cooper Life Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.  She is also a board member of the Connecticut Technology Council and of the Crossroads Venture Group.

The Women of FIRE awards luncheon will be held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Connecticut on August 25. from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.   Mary Barneby, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Connecticut will give the keynote speech.
