PRESS RELEASE: Pullman & Comley Attorney Jonathan B. Orleans Receives Connecticut Law Tribune Professional Excellence Award

HARTFORD, Connecticut:  Jonathan B. Orleans, chair of the Labor and Employment practice at Pullman & Comley, LLC was recently named a winner of the Connecticut Law Tribune’s second annual Professional Excellence Awards for his outstanding service to the legal profession during his career.

Nearly two dozen Connecticut attorneys from more than 70 nominations were selected by a panel of judges who considered the nominees success in the courtroom, law firm and bar association leadership, advocacy roles, pro bono contributions and service on state and federal bar panels, among other factors. 

“I have been fortunate to know Jon for more than two decades.  Throughout those years, he has made tremendous contributions to the profession, this firm and its Litigation and Labor and Employment practices,” said Timothy G. Ronan, chair of the firm’s Litigation practice.  “We’re honored that Jon is being recognized for his outstanding service to the practice of law and to the community.”

Mr. Orleans, chair of the Labor & Employment Law practice has more than 30 years of experience as a litigator and counselor in a broad range of matters, particularly relating to the employer-employee relationship.  He represents businesses and individuals in disputes arising out of employment contracts, non-competition agreements and other commercial agreements.  He regularly assists employers with the development and application of personnel policies and represents employers and senior executives in the negotiation of employment contracts and separation agreements.  Mr. Orleans has served as an investigator of campus and workplace sex discrimination and harassment complaints and also advises colleges, universities and independent schools on employment-related matters and compliance with Title IX as it relates to campus sexual misconduct and to athletics.

Mr. Orleans’ service to the bar and the community currently includes chairing the Local Civil Rules Advisory Committee of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, membership on the Connecticut Judicial Department Civil Commission and the Board of Directors of the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, and serving as Legal Advisor to the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut.  He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Federal Practice Section and was previously a member of the Federal Grievance Committee of the U.S. District Court and of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Fair Housing Center.  Mr. Orleans also taught Civil Procedure as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Mr. Orleans received a Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College and a Master of Public Administration from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs.  He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law.
