PRESS RELEASE: Michael J. Andreana of Pullman & Comley Receives Connecticut Economic Development Association's Member of the Year Award
HARTFORD, Conn., January 7, 2016: Michael J. Andreana, an attorney in Pullman & Comley’s Government Finance Department, was celebrated by the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) as a leader in statewide economic development at its annual conference held on December 9th in Farmington.
CEDAS, a non-profit organization committed to advancing the practice of economic development within the state, honored Mr. Andreana with its Member of the Year award, and in particular recognized his efforts in drafting and promoting Connecticut’s new tax increment financing legislation. Mr. Andreana was an integral part of the legislation’s successful passage during the 2015 Legislative Session and drafted the language for the expanded financing mechanism. He was also part of a coalition that included the Connecticut Main Street Center, the Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association, CEDAS and the Yale Law School.
Mr. Andreana focuses his practice in the areas of tax-exempt financings, public-private development projects and tax credit transactions. He has counseled government entities with respect to the creation and use of Special Tax and Special Assessment Districts to issue debt for public infrastructure improvements. He also represents developers, governmental agencies and other participants in various tax credit transactions, including Historic Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits and Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
Mr. Andreana serves as a Board Member of the Connecticut Main Street Center and is also a Board Member of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid organization. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2012 in the area of public finance. Mr. Andreana received his B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law.
