Diane Whitney Discusses Rejection of Methadone Clinic Location

In, "Methadone Clinic Rejection Launches ADA Action" Pullman & Comley Environmental Department Chair Diane Whitney discusses how the city of Torrington passed new zoning regulations for proposals involving addiction services, mental health treatment and other medical dispensaries.  The Hartford Dispensary proposed putting a methadone clinic near Route 8 in Torrington, that was then denied due to a lack of parking. However, in a ruling on March 27, the city amended their new regulation to take out the reference to addiction and mental health services.

According to Diane, "You can't make it harder to locate those facilities than locate other medical facilities in town.  In doing so it violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)."
