Attorney Irve Goldman Comments on A&P's Deal with UFCW

Connecticut Post

Pullman & Comley Attorney Irve J. Goldman, a partner in the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice, was quoted in "A&P, Workers Reach Labor Deal," an article about contract agreements between A&P and 13 branches of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.  According to the article, both sides feel that the agreement will help the grocery chain emerge from bankruptcy.

The contracts were approved on December 5 by the Southern District of New York Bankruptcy Court.  According to Irve, bankruptcy courts want to avoid costly litigation that can follow a contract impasse.

"If a court approves a (contract) modification, the next step is to incorporate it into the plan of reorganization," he said.
