HARTFORD:  Lee D. Hoffman, a partner with Pullman & Comley, LLC, has been appointed by Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy as a member of the State Team Organized for the Review of Management of Irene (S.T.O.R.M. Irene) assessment team.

The S.T.O.R.M. Irene panel, composed of eight members with backgrounds including the military, disaster relief, municipal government, non-profit and labor sectors, “will review the performance of the state and its partners – including the utilities and municipalities – in terms of the preparedness and response and recovery efforts related to Tropical Storm Irene,” according to a press statement from the Governor’s office.  In addition, the group will look at the state’s overall disaster preparedness and response efforts.

Based in Pullman & Comley’s Hartford office, Lee advises clients on various energy and environmental matters, including counseling them on regulatory and compliance issues, the siting of traditional and renewable electric generation facilities, utility rate proceedings before the DPUC, the redevelopment of contaminated properties (“brownfields”) to productive use, the ramifications associated with the acquisition or divestiture of assets, and facility audits.  Earlier this year, Lee served as co-chair of the Energy Working Group tasked with helping the new Malloy administration with policy advice in the area of energy, including lowering electric rates in Connecticut and increasing energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts.  He is also a member of the General Assembly’s Brownfields Working Group.

Lee is the Vice Chair of the Public Utilities Section and the Treasurer of the Environmental Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.  Lee also is a Steering Committee member of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s Environmental Policies Council,  the Secretary for the Town of Windsor’s Redevelopment Authority and a member of the executive committee of the board of directors of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity.  He has been named to the 2011 Connecticut Super Lawyers list in the area of energy and natural resources; The Best Lawyers in America 2012 in the area of energy law; and Who’s Who Legal in the area of environmental law.  Lee is also listed in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers to Businesses.

Lee earned his B.A. in environmental science and political science from Tulane University in 1991, his J.D. from George Washington University in 1994 and his LL.M. in environmental law, with highest honors, from George Washington University in 1996.  Lee serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Connecticut’s School of Law.
