PRESS RELEASE: Karen Daley and Rex Iacurci Join Pullman & Comley, LLC

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.: Attorneys Karen A. Daley and Rex J. Iacurci have joined Pullman & Comley, LLC, the law firm announced today.

Karen Daley joins the firm as an associate based in Bridgeport practicing health care law.  Prior to joining Pullman & Comley, Karen was Director of Risk Management and Associate Counsel at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford.  She directed and supervised the risk managers who handled various clinical risk management and legal risk issues, as well as professional and general liability matters.  She also provided guidance to personnel and medical staff on numerous health law issues, including professional and hospital liability, HIPAA, informed consent, end-of-life, public health, peer review and advance directives.  Before that, Karen was the Director of Risk Management at Bridgeport Hospital.

Earlier in her career, Karen served as an associate at another Connecticut law firm, where she defended medical malpractice cases and physicians before the Connecticut Department of Public Health.  Karen began her career at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston, where she was a surgical critical care nurse, trauma outreach nurse and clinical advisor for more than 10 years.   She received her J.D. from Boston College Law School and her B.A. from Boston College. 

Rex Iacurci joins Pullman & Comley as an associate in the Employee Benefits Section of the firm’s Corporate and Business Department.  He handles all aspects of employee benefits, including tax-qualified retirement plans, flexible benefit programs, fringe benefit plans and executive compensation (including deferred compensation) arrangements. Rex also has experience in compensation discussion and analysis (CD & A) preparation for proxy disclosure, employee stock purchase plans and tax issues dealing with information reporting and withholding.

Prior to joining the firm, Rex was Senior Counsel at Northeast Utilities Service Company in Hartford, where he was responsible for providing analysis, consultation and advice concerning all aspects of employee benefit plan and executive compensation compliance.  He also designed and amended employee retirement and nonqualified plans as well as health and welfare and fringe benefit plans to ensure compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code and assisted in communicating the terms of those plans and amendments to participants.  Rex’s  prior experience also includes 12 years with Texaco as a senior tax attorney.  A certified public accountant since 1990, Rex earlier served as Manager-Actuarial, Benefits and Compensation consulting for Ernst & Young.  He received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law and his B.S. from Fairfield University.
