BRIDGEPORT, Conn.: Jessica Grossarth and T. Scott Cowperthwait, attorneys in the Litigation Department at Pullman & Comley, LLC in Bridgeport, are recipients of this year’s “40 Under 40” award from the Fairfield County Business Journal.
The Fairfield County Business Journal, in partnership with six area chambers of commerce, presents the “40 Under 40” award to individuals under 40 in Fairfield County who have distinguished themselves within business and the community. Scott, Jessica and the other recipients of the award were honored at an awards ceremony on June 17 at UCONN Stamford.
Scott, 36, focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense and corporate internal investigations, and cybersecurity and infrastructure protection issues. He regularly advises businesses and organizations concerning local, state and government regulations and standards relating to critical infrastructure sectors. He received his J.D. from the Quinnipiac University School of Law and his B.A. from Gettysburg College. Scott is a member of the American Bar Association; the Federal Practice Section of the Connecticut Bar Association; the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, where he is past co-chair of the Young Lawyers Section; and the Federal Bar Council. He also serves as secretary and a member of the board of directors of InfraGard Connecticut, and is a member of the High Technology Criminal Investigative Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Raymond E. Baldwin Inn of Court and the American Health Lawyers Association. He was named to the Super Lawyers "Connecticut Rising Stars 2010" list in the area of Business Litigation.
Jessica, 33, practices in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. She represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees and trustees in formal bankruptcy proceedings and out of court workouts. Jessica has been involved in a variety of bankruptcy proceedings and has appeared in the District of Connecticut and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She has participated in numerous bankruptcy appeals to the Federal District Courts. She joined Pullman & Comley in 2002, and currently is co-chair of the firm’s Orientation Committee and serves as a member of the firm’s Recruiting and Diversity committees. She has written on legal issues relating to bankruptcy, including “Chapter 11: What Every Business Owner Should Know Before Filing” published in the Fairfield County Business Journal, October 5, 2009. She received her J.D. from the Quinnipiac University School of Law and her B.A. from Fairfield University.
An active member of the legal community in Fairfield County, Jessica is the founder and chair of the Young Bankruptcy Lawyers Group; a member of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section of the Connecticut Bar Association; the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association; the American Bankruptcy Institute; and the Turnaround Management Association. She also is an officer and member of the board of directors of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.
