PRESS RELEASE: Alan J. Sobol Joins Pullman & Comley as Partner

HARTFORD, October 20, 2009:  Pullman & Comley, LLC has announced that Alan J. Sobol has joined the firm’s Litigation Department and White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice as a partner in the firm’s Hartford office.  

“We are very pleased to have Alan join our firm,” said D. Robert Morris, Chairman of Pullman & Comley.  “The depth and breadth of his experience in white collar crime and criminal defense will be a tremendous asset as we continue to build our practice in that area.”

Alan has represented both corporate and individual clients in federal and state health care, Medicare and Medicaid  fraud and enforcement, federal fraud and false claims, financial fraud, structuring, tax, anti-trust, federal and state racketeering and public corruption cases.

Alan’s criminal defense practice includes representation in conspiracy and drug trafficking, money laundering, bank robbery, identity theft, computer crimes, larceny, assault, forfeiture, immigration, and domestic cases. In his civil litigation practice, he represents commercial clients in contracts and business disputes. He has national experience in construction and surety litigation representing owners, contractors, design professionals, insurance companies, and sureties on public and private construction projects, with experience in government contract, surety performance, and payment bond cases in federal and state court.

Earlier in his career, Alan was a trial attorney, Criminal Division, a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and a prosecutor, for the General Litigation Section, U.S. Department of Justice, in Washington, D.C.   He has been a member of the Criminal Justice Section's Executive Committee, Federal Practice, and Construction Law sections of the Connecticut Bar Association.  He also has been a member of the Criminal Law Section, Litigation Section, and the Forum on the Construction Industry of the American Bar Association.  Alan has been listed in Who’s Who in American Law, is a Diplomat in the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and a U.S. Attorney General's Honor Law Graduate Program Attorney.   He is an elected member of the Cheshire Board of Education, and past president-chairman of the Cheshire Education Foundation.

Alan earned his B.A. with honors from the University of Maryland, and his J.D. at the University of Akron.

The White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice at Pullman & Comley  represents individuals and corporations at both the state and federal levels in all aspects of corporate governance, compliance and market issues.   Alan joins Alex Hernandez, practice chair and partner based in Bridgeport, who joined the firm in 2007 after a 16 year career at the U.S. Department of Justice, most recently serving as Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Fairfield County office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut; and partner and practice member Thomas Maxwell, former assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, who is based in the firm’s Bridgeport office.
