Jared M. Alfin has a broad-based practice focused on commercial litigation, business disputes and criminal defense. He counsels clients on a range of issues involving commercial contract disputes, white-collar fraud, unfair trade practices, construction disputes and shareholder/members rights.
Prior to joining Pullman & Comley in 2010, Jared practiced at a boutique law firm and has first chair trial experience and experience with depositions, arbitrations, settlement conferences and other aspects of litigation practice. While in law school, he served as a summer intern in the Public Defender's Office (Part A) in the New Britain Superior Court.
Representative Experience
- Defended minority shareholders in an appraisal rights proceeding and obtained a judgment against the corporation declaring that the value of the shares were eight times greater than the corporation's fair value offering
- Assisted with the successful defense of an individual sued by the Security and Exchange Commission for insider trading violations
- Represented companies engaged in property management, waste management, and construction in litigation brought to recover outstanding contract balances
- Successfully negotiated settlements for individuals and corporate entities involved in business disputes
- Secured numerous real estate and bank account attachments to prevent various adverse individuals and corporate entities from concealing assets from creditors
- Negotiated favorable plea dispositions for individuals prosecuted for crimes
