Pullman & Comley has long been at the forefront of brownfield redevelopment, transforming formerly contaminated property into productive and innovative uses. One noteworthy example is Great Pond Village, a community being developed on the 670-acre former site of ABB’s manufacturing and research facilities in Windsor, Connecticut. We have represented the developers on environmental and land use issues, helping turn this brownfield site into a community that incorporates the “new urbanism” approach to planning, including walkable neighborhoods and a variety of housing types. In addition, the firm’s public finance attorneys established a special taxing district to govern the community, which included drafting the successful legislation required for the district. When completed, Great Pond Village will include 4,000 residential units with unparalleled recreational opportunities, retail and restaurant uses, and office, research and educational facilities. Shovels are expected in the soil this spring to begin one of the most exciting new developments in Connecticut.
“From the very beginning, the development of Great Pond Village has benefitted from the expertise of Pullman & Comley’s attorneys on environmental, land use, and financing issues. We rely on them for practical solutions to complex problems.”
